Dreamlike Visions

Before beginning my BA in fine art, I studied drawing. My journey into painting began with a deep love for colour – its energy, emotion and ability to tell stories over time. I felt that paint, more than pencil, could carry the weight and vibrancy of the narratives I wanted to share. Painting also felt more accessible, people are naturally drawn to it, and I wanted to meet them there.

Becoming an artist has opened up a space of freedom and self-expression. I’ve grown to trust my style, and with each painting, I continue to explore, experiment, and take creative risks. Looking back at my early work in drawing, I can see how far I’ve come – the evolution is striking and fills me with purpose.

Diversity is central to my practice, we exist in many shapes, shades and identities, and that multiplicity is something I find beautiful. My work often distorts or reimagines the body moving away from traditional ideas of beauty. This is a conscious choice, I want to challenge narrow ideals and invite viewers to recognise power and worth in what is overlooked.

My work is not about painting ‘perfect’ people. It’s about sharing messages of love, strength and empowerment. It’s about creating space for those who don’t often see themselves reflected – and reminding us all that beauty lives in difference, in boldness, and in truth
